In 2016, the last comprehensive amendment to the association's statutory regulations for special water associations in North Rhine-Westphalia was carried out. Since then, numerous new legal and political requirements have been placed on water management. These include the new EU Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive with its requirement for energy neutrality, as well as politically driven directives for more resilient water management, requirements for coping with the consequences of climate change, and new demands for a modern working world (digitalisation). Overall, the world of water has become more complex and demanding, so the proposed amendments to our association's laws will set the right course for the future.
The agw has submitted its statement on the state government's draft bill to adapt association and water law provisions to the consultation of associations within the deadline.
